Information Technology Self-Assessment (ITSA) is an IT governance instrument and Information Technology Audit Self-Assessment (ITASA) is an audit quality instrument.

Both instruments take the form of a workshop with participants - ITSA from IT and user sides at various levels and ITASA from audit and IT audit at various levels. In ITSA, workshop participants assess the quality of current and future support of business processes by IT; in ITASA, participants assess the maturity of current and future IT audit function, as well as evaluate the compliance of their SAI with the related ISSAI standards. The approach of the exercises allows for a focussed and pragmatic solution definition.

Both ITSA and ITASA are led by a moderator who comes from another Supreme Audit Institution. After the presentation of the results to Executive Management, the most important part begins: the refinement and implementation of the suggested actions.
