ITWG Has Launched Free Global Training Programme on Auditing AI in the Public Sector
Auditors and public sector professionals worldwide now have access to a new free online training programme designed to build expertise in auditing artificial intelligence (AI) in government. Developed by the EUROSAI IT Working Group (ITWG), led by the National Audit Office of Estonia, the programme “Auditing AI in the Public Sector” brings together expertise from the Supreme Audit Institutions (SAIs) of Egypt, Estonia, India, Israel, Morocco, Oman, Slovenia, Sudan, Switzerland, the Netherlands and the United States.
The training explores the rapidly evolving role of AI in government, covering key topics such as AI fundamentals, regulatory and ethical considerations, data security, auditing methodologies, and emerging trends. It is designed for auditors, professionals and stakeholders interested in understanding how external public sector auditors can assess the development and use of AI systems, including generative AI.
The programme consists of four self-paced online modules:
- Introduction to AI and Its Implications in Government
- Security and Data in AI Systems
- Auditing AI Systems: Frameworks and Methodologies
- Future Trends and Continuous Learning
All modules are available through the EUROSAI ITWG Moodle platform, allowing participants to learn at their own pace without time restrictions. Participants who successfully complete all four modules will receive a certificate. The Moodle platform is managed by the EUROSAI ITWG Secretariat at the National Audit Office of Estonia.
Enrollment is open and free of charge. Participants can create an account and start learning at: https://training.eurosai-it.org
